Biblical Shepherding and Weekly Updates

Hi friends,

I pray that you are enjoying God this week. It's a delight to know him and live life with him each day. Psalm 34:8 - O taste and see that the Lord is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

Here are some body life updates for the week:

Preview Sunday

Bring a sack lunch to church this weekend. After the morning service we will have our annual meeting at Santiam Place. Then we will drive over to the new property at 12:30pm for a presentation and a tour: 35355 Eicher Road, Albany, OR. This is a very exciting weekend for our church body!

Sunday Location Change 2/24

Santiam Place has an annual bridal show on Sunday 2/24. This means we will be meeting at the Comfort Inn in Albany: 100 Opal Court, Albany, OR 97322. Service starts at 10:00.

Philosophy of Ministry

One of our distinctives at CBC is biblical shepherding. It is a key component that drives our ministry. This week I came across a post on the topic and it resonated with my heart and so I wanted to share it. It's written by Paul Shirley, a fellow graduate from Expositors Seminary who planted a church in Delaware a couple years ahead of us.

Greek Word Studies

I was recently asked a question by someone wanting to look up Greek words to increase their understanding of the Scriptures. I explained that it's a good desire to be a diligent Bible student, but you can be very confident in a good English translation. If you like to study Greek vocabulary here's a brief article that gives a few examples as to things to be aware of when drawing conclusions from Greek word studies (hint: the Gospel has nothing to do with dynamite even though the word for power in Romans 1:16 is dynamis).

See you Lord, willing this Sunday.

In Christ,

Pastor Jake
