God’s Design for the Church

This upcoming Lord's Day we will study the account of Peter's denial and repentance in Mark 14:66-72. I'm so grateful to God that he chose to give us this passage because it gives us a pattern for understanding our failure and our restoration as God's children.

A few items I want to share with you this week:

Church location change this Sunday

We are not meeting at Santiam Place this weekend! Our normal service will begin at 10:00 am at the Comfort Inn Suites in Albany. We will be meeting in the Linn Benton Room. 100 Opal Court, Albany, OR 97322.

Life in the church

Our church body at Cornerstone is young, and we want to equip you in understanding what it means to be part of the church so you can mature. When God saved you he put you in a spiritual family with great privileges and responsibilities. God gifted you for the sake of ministering to others and he is deeply concerned with your obedience to him in this area. Please take an hour this week to listen to a message by John MacArthur on God's design for the church. As you listen, honestly ask yourself: how am I loving my brothers and sisters? How committed am I to the fellowship of the saints? How am I using my spiritual gifts to edify others? We have lots of room for growth as a church in understanding and applying these truths. Note: Dr. MacArthur is preaching this message to the church he has shepherded for 50 years on the anniversary of his ministry there. Enjoy!

Jerry Wragg Visit

As I mentioned on Sunday, please make it a priority to be here for the weekend that Jerry is at CBC. We want to honor his willingness to make time for us, and I promise you will be blessed as he opens the Word with us. Please email me this week any topics or questions you would like to add for the discussion time (could be practical, theological, related to the church, evangelicalism at large, etc.).

  • Friday 3/1 - Approved Workman

  • Saturday 3/2 - 2 Sessions on the church at the Holiday Inn Express in Albany (9:00-12:00).

  • Sunday 3/3 - Sunday service at Santiam Place and Q&A afterward.

Church move date

We are extending our closing date (and move date) one month. The Shift Church was running behind on their timeline at their new building and it was an opportunity to serve them. We plan to close now the end of April and the move in as soon as we are able in May.

Truth for the week ahead

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know him. - 1 John 3:1

In Christ,

Pastor Jake
