Not Possessing Something You Believe You Need

Not possessing something you believe you need

Often we begin to think that we need something on this earth in order to be satisfied, or that something earthly will bring the satisfaction we are looking for (the right job, house, spouse, circumstances, opportunity, physical body, financial position, less difficulty, etc.). This thinking is not only misguided, it is sinful and it disbelieves God in at least two key areas:

First, the recognition that God alone can bring satisfaction to our souls. Second, the truth that God will not withhold anything beneficial from us.

Regardless of what circumstance you find yourself in today, even in deprivation and need, you can take comfort in the promise that God is not stingy with you and he will not keep anything from you that would benefit your soul.

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalms‬ ‭84:11‬

No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly! If it was good for your life to have whatever unfulfilled desire you are wanting then God would give it to you. Isn't that a helpful and practical truth? You can immediately begin to reprogram your thought life and bring your thoughts under the control of Christ by believing this truth.

Part of the Psalmists secret to contentment is finding joy in God himself.

"How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God." Psalms 84:1-2

May our souls long for the Lord above all else and sing for joy to him.
